DNS Management

If you wish simply to register an Internet domain, point DNS to a server on which you're already hosting a website, and make changes to resource records from time to time, then all you need is a domain registration and DNS management package.

Web Hosting and Systems Administration

Various web hosting packages are available, from a small, static site to a managed server with full scripting capability, MySQL database and shell access. All hosting packages include at least one domain registration and DNS package, and at least 3 e-mail addresses and 10 aliases.

Any configuration changes you may need on your server are but a phone call or an e-mail away. I can also perform aministrative tasks on a server you're renting elsewhere if you require someone to take this burden off your shoulders so that you can concentrate on your own job.

"Basic" hosting: 10MB space, no scripting, no database, 3 e-mail addresses, 10 aliases. £60.00/yr.

"Standard" hosting: 512MB space, PHP 5.x, one MySQL 5.0.x database, 10 e-mail addresses, 20 aliases. £96.00/yr.

"Copious" hosting: 10GB space, PHP 4.x, one MySQL 4.1.x database, 200 e-mail addresses, 200 aliases. £54.00/quarter.

"Advanced" hosting: 10GB space, up to 8 domains, PHP 5.x, five MySQL 5.0.x databases, 200 e-mail addresses, 200 aliases. £156.00/quarter.

Website Construction and Maintenance

Whether you need a website designed from scratch or you already have one that needs updating, I can do this for you.

Any web page I design is hand-written to comply with the standards of the World Wide Web Consortium and is formally validated, thus ensuring cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, except in cases where the browser is at fault − although I do work around such cases whenever possible while still maintaining W3C validity.

Occasional work on websites and administration of systems hosting them is billed on an hourly basis at a rate of £40.00/hour. There is a minimum charge of £40.00, and work is billed by the quarter hour after the first hour.

For the purposes of designing a website from scratch, a reduced hourly rate of £27.50 is applied. A quote for the work is submitted prior to work commencing. Upon agreement, a 30% advance of the fee is requested before work commences.

If you choose to host your new site with me as well then the price of it will be reduced for the first year. Hosting for the first year will in fact be free if you opt for "Basic" or "Standard" hosting, which represents savings of up to £90. If you opt for "Copious" hosting, your bills will be reduced by 50% for the first year, thus saving you £90. If you opt for "Advanced" hosting, your bills will be reduced by 25% for the first year, thus saving you £126.

 

Web-based Application Design

Do you need a system for distributing information within your company? Perhaps an intranet e-mail system? Do you need a portal in order to make some of that information public and in order to exchange mail with the outside? With spam and virus protection for your users maybe?

If so, then do get in touch so that we can study your needs and come up with a plan that addresses them, that is expandable with a view to the future and that has a low Total Cost of Ownership. All the intranet systems I build are based on Open Source Software, which has long since proved its reliability and its adherence to industry standards.

 

Translation Service

Having lived in France from 1983 to 2007 and received my secondary education there, I am bilingual. If you need your site to be geared towards a French and/or Canadian audience, I can translate your site into French. I also have a good working knowledge of German, Dutch and Italian, and can work with texts in these languages without difficulty.

If you need documents translated from French to English or vice versa, I am capable of doing that. I can also translate from German or Dutch into English or French.
